Putting it down

Not everything that feels heavy needs to be worked through. Some things are simply ready to be set down. It starts with noticing what has become heavy. Not in a dramatic way, but in the subtle accumulation of effort that’s gone unexamined.

Before anything can be released, it has to be felt.
Named.
Acknowledged without judgment.

Sometimes even appreciated for the role it played or the protection it once offered.

And in that simple act of recognition, clarity begins to show what’s no longer meant to be carried forward.

This is the part we often miss.

We notice what’s heavy, but don’t always pause to ask what no longer belongs.
Not as a project to fix.
Not as a challenge to overcome.
But as a truth to witness.

As I move toward a new cycle, these are some of the things I’m ready to put down:

Trying to get somewhere.
Living as if the present moment is a means to an end.

Ruminating on what isn’t working or out of reach.
Carrying old beliefs long after they’ve stopped serving me.

Doubting my capacity to handle what shows up.
Forgetting how many things I’ve already found my way through.

Judging myself or others.
Tightening around stories that close the heart instead of softening it.

How about you?

Pause for a moment.
Let your shoulders drop.
Notice where your body is still holding.

Then, either on paper or quietly to yourself, complete this sentence:

What I’m ready to put down right now is __________.

Don’t explain it.
Don’t fix it.
Just name it.

If it feels right, imagine setting it down — not throwing it away, not resolving it — simply placing it outside the circle of what you’re carrying tonight.

That’s enough.

The Heart of It

Letting go doesn’t require a big moment.

Sometimes it happens quietly, when you finally stop gripping what’s familiar.

As the year turns, I’m noticing how much energy has been tied up in carrying things past their season — and how much becomes available when I allow myself to put them down.

Without drama.
Without self-judgment.
Without needing to replace them with something new.

If something here resonates, I’d love to hear. You can share it with me on Instagram.

If something here feels familiar, you don’t have to carry it on your own. This is the kind of space I hold in coaching.
