Is the drama of the world getting you down? If you’re working on being more resilient, don’t overlook what you’re feeding your mind. The news you watch, the podcasts you binge, even your social scroll—it all impacts your energy, mood, and nervous system. This post explores why your content diet matters and offers a simple audit to help you spot what’s nourishing and what’s just noise. Less noise. More clarity. One choice at a time.
It’s been a while since I posted here but today felt like a good day to start again. No big declarations, just me, showing up with something that’s been on my mind and in my heart. Let’s dive in.
Let’s talk about content. Not the kind you create, but the kind you consume. You know, the stuff streaming through your feed, playing in the background, sitting in your inbox, or buzzing in your earbuds.
Because here’s the deal: what you take in matters. A lot.
Especially if you’re working to raise your resilience to the amplified stressors of today.
It’s easy to overlook, right? We scroll to unwind, flip on the news to “stay informed,” binge that true crime podcast because it’s just… so addictive. But all that input? It doesn’t just disappear. It’s shaping your nervous system, your thoughts, and your inner experience more than you realize.
When you’re intentional about building inner resilience—mental, emotional, energetic—what you consume needs to support that. Not sabotage it.
Content is either: fuel or junk.
Think of your resilience like an inner battery. You can make deposits (things that calm, uplift, energize, or inspire you) or withdrawals (things that drain, trigger, or dysregulate you).
So, the question becomes: are you filling yourself with nourishment? Or noise?
This isn’t about perfection. It’s not about “never watching the news” or only reading personal development books. It is about noticing what tips you into overload or keeps you stuck in the loop of fear, comparison, or outrage.
When it comes to looking after you, paying attention to your media diet is just as important as what’s on your plate.
Start Here: a Gentle Audit
Take a day or two and notice:
Sometimes the answer will surprise you. That podcast you thought was “empowering”? Maybe it’s really just jacking up your nervous system with hustle culture and hidden shame triggers.
Protect the Vibe You're Cultivating
When you’re learning to live with more coherence and ease, your inner state is gold. Sacred, even. So guard it like you would your favorite cozy sanctuary. Don’t let just anything wander in.
You get to choose what you consume. That’s power. That’s self-respect. That’s resilience in action.
And yes—even if it seems radical, sometimes the most impactful thing you can do for your nervous system is to unfollow, mute, log off, or say no thanks.
What I know for sure is this:
What you feed your mind shapes how you feel. It influences your thoughts, your energy, and your sense of steadiness. And not all content is harmless—some of it quietly drains your reserves and wears down your resilience.
You have a say in what gets in. Small changes—what you follow, what you mute, what you reach for—can shift everything.
You don’t have to get it perfect. Intentional awareness is all that's required.
Every small shift you make creates space for more calm, more clarity, more you.
Want to reset your content diet without quitting the internet?
Stay tuned—my next post shares 5 simple shifts to help you reclaim clarity, energy, and focus. Its not about unplugging from everything but rather choosing what truly supports you.
